The heavy, metal doors are decorated with countless pots and pans. Where the top pots are old and weathered, the new, just-made handicrafts are at the front of the tables. A stain or a beauty flaw is part of it, because that too is part of handicraft. 
For me, in the busy medina of Fez, Morocco, these kinds of details were the absolute highlight. Busy cities and streets are often crowded and chaotic, but by focusing precisely on the details, I managed to capture the essence of this city - and of the people who live and work there.
