The Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is an attack fighter that operates from aircraft carriers. The aircraft is a development of the F/A-18 Hornet. In 1992, the United States Navy ordered the aircraft at McDonnell Douglas, which has now been taken over by Boeing. The first flight took place in 1996 and the first landing on an aircraft carrier took place in 1997. In 1999 he entered service as a replacement for the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. The Super Hornet has the nickname 'Rhino'.
