Part of a former school building in Hilversum. Built in the 1930s when there was a great eye for form and detail. Also the time when photography experimented with form and photographs became more than a depiction of reality. That is an echo of this. On the one hand, the clean lines of the tower emphasizing the verticals and counterbalancing the curved lines of the hall with the glass. Not just any windows, but a very careful division into smaller windows with substantial rebates which also makes the contrast of light and dark greater. The angled lines give a greater dramatic effect, also because the left runs parallel to the edge. This also creates movement in an in itself static image.
