Beat came to photography through his work as a senior copywriter. Writing and photography are closely intertwined. Communication is usually based on the interplay of text and image. Both elements complement and reinforce one another. Inspired by his intensive engagement with images, Beat has been taking more photographs himself for several years now.
Alongside the technical aspects, he finds the aesthetic and conceptual questions particularly fascinating: What is beauty? How do visual power and harmony arise? Which subjects are worthy of being captured? How can I best do justice to the subject? How do I achieve simplicity of expression without being trivial?
For Beat, photographic art means, among other things, capturing works of art to be discovered in nature. His landscape photographs are characterised by true colours that have not been altered by photo software. He also enjoys creating images in black and white or as abstractions.
