Much of my childhood was spent in the forest near my parents' cottage. There, my love for birds, the forest animals and the rustling wind in the trees was born. The forest is still a place I love to visit, I immediately feel relaxed, can breathe more freely and feel secure under the canopy.
My art reflects this. I like to paint and draw the birds I see around me every day, in the garden, or during my daily walk in the woods. The garden is also part of a squirrel's territory, wood mice live there and sometimes a hedgehog scurries around.
I also explore how to portray emotions I see in faces.
Important words in my art are attention, time, empathy, emotion.
My name is Annette Noordhof, born in 1968. From childhood I have been devoted to drawing and painting, and as a teenager I had planned to make it my profession. Besides enjoying it, I also worry about the beautiful nature around me. There is less variety among birds and insects. This creates a sense of urgency to capture my environment before it is no longer there.
With every painting I make, I hope to express how valuable nature is to me. I prefer to use pastel crayons, but I also use pencil, graphite, watercolour, oil and acrylic paint and gouache, as a background I use special pastel paper, canvas and wooden panels.
Besides free work,
