Vintage postcards on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Frans Blok - photos, art and other wall decoration

No, these are not vintage postcards that have been yellowing in a box in the attic for decades, but digital photos of contemporary Rotterdam cityscapes, artificially aged in a bath of Photoshop. As constructions such as the Erasmus Bridge, Central Station, the Market Hall and the Depot already suggest... The best basis for a successful picture postcard illusion is a photo that shows both old and new elements. The historic sailing ships in the Veerhaven marina together with the brand new Zalmhaven tower, for example. Or the White House and the surrounding modern high-rise buildings. I edit such a photo with textures, filters and other effects until a perfect sense of alienation arises: hey, is Willemsbridge that old already? And although a postcard, certainly in bygone days, was seldom larger than, say, ten by fifteen centimeters, there is no reason not to hang this “modern retro” on the wall in a much larger format.
