About "torn"

by Denny Stoekenbroek

About the artwork

In Torn, Denny Stoekenbroek captures a moment of stillness and power in a single sideways glance. The woman in the portrait seems almost to dissolve into her surroundings - her silhouette forming from an explosion of charcoal dust and grainy structures reminiscent of smoke, ash or even stardust. Yet her face remains sharp, confident and serene, like an anchor in the midst of chaos.

The work plays with contrast: between control and letting go, between sharpness and blurring, between light and darkness. The facial features are carefully worked out, with great attention to detail, while the hair and shoulder area transition into an expressive and almost abstract movement. It is as if the figure both appears and disappears - a beautiful field of tension that raises questions but reveals nothing completely.

The composition breathes space and tranquillity, while the texture and tonality create a rich visual experience. This work is ideal for lovers of subtle, poetic portraits with a contemporary character.

Torn fits effortlessly into both modern and classic interiors and is available as a high-quality art print on a variety of materials.
