At this moment, there is a subtle balance between warm and cold colours, with each still holding its own in the transition - and reflected in the water.
It is dark, but not really yet. Here and there a small point of light can be seen. When it's really dark soon, that will offer the only relief.
There is no longer any sign of the lively bustle of the day: it is quiet, almost serenely calm. Most have gone ashore - to home, or to town, for a lavish meal, a few are spending the night on board.
So there is nothing to do, yet it is a place you want to be.
The port is on the southern French Riviera in the warm waters of the Ligurian Sea.
The sea is calm, so the boats wobble gently on the waves waiting for the next day when the sails are hoisted back into the masts and sailing out.
The masts and sky colours reflect in the water. The boats lie in tight order, but the diversity in the boats breaks that order.
