About ‘by the sea’ by Rita Fuchs

A hint of eternity hangs over this landscape, as if time itself were holding its breath for a moment. In the De Hoop Nature Reserve, not far from the Cape of Good Hope, the land and the ocean meet in a quiet, intimate embrace. The small white house, solitary yet sheltered, stands as a guardian over the boundless expanse of South Africa.
The wind sweeps gently over the low vegetation, carrying with it the scent of salt and freedom, and whispering tales of distant journeys. Before the house, the ocean stretches out, powerful yet peaceful, its waves like the heartbeats of an ancient world. The sky above – an endless blue that merges with the horizon in the distance – lends the moment an almost magical tranquillity.
Here, on the edge of Africa, nature seems to reveal its very soul: wild, untamed, and yet full of tenderness. Anyone who lingers in this place feels their thoughts grow lighter and their heart open up. It is a place that demands not just to be seen, but to be felt – a romantic promise between humankind and nature that lingers long in the memory.
