The barn owl (Tyto alba) is a bird of the family Tytonidae. As with many other owls (and birds of prey) the female is slightly larger and heavier than the male. The bird has a thick head with dark eyes and is mottled golden brown on top and lightly spotted on the underside. This owl is 33 to 39 cm long and has long legs.
