About ‘an Occitan village’ by SlowDad Art

Coming back to Occitanie after 40 years in Sweden was like a rebirth for me. Everything I had learnt at art school a long time ago had lain dormant during my stay in Sweden, but now the light and colours have returned and filled my creative universe.

This painting is a synthesis of impressions of a small village where I've lived for the last six years. It's a kind of tribute to a place that has suffered the ravages of time, but which nevertheless retains all its splendour. To be what it is and not what it pretends to be. Finding the authenticity and the human imprint that make a place truly alive.

My desire for light was a determining factor in my return to France and is the driving force behind my entire artistic practice. Please feel free to share this with me and bring a little of the warmth of the South of France into your home. Once again, thank you to everyone who loves art and understands its value.
