Woodland Friends – A ghost and a squirrel gather nuts in a Scandinavian autumn forest by Floral Abstractions

A little white ghost and a squirrel are gathering nuts together in the autumnal forest. The squirrel hands the nuts it has gathered to its supposed ghostly friend, whilst the ghost holds out its white robe like a bag. But there is actually another squirrel hiding behind the little ghost: its large, bushy tail sticks out clearly from beneath the ghost’s robe, revealing the humorous disguise. Together, the two Woodland Friends gather their winter provisions amongst falling leaves, acorns, stones, grasses and autumnal trees. The illustration is part of the ‘Woodland Friends and Ghost’ series, in which forest animals and little ghosts in disguise experience different stories together. The Scandinavian-inspired storybook style combines a light, minimalist design with classic children’s book illustration and a soft watercolour feel. Natural shades of beige, brown, green and warm autumn tones characterise the harmonious colour palette. Generous areas of light colour lend the scene a friendly and calm atmosphere, placing the two squirrels at the centre of attention. As a wall mural, this design is particularly suitable for children’s bedrooms, baby rooms and nurseries, as well as for playrooms, reading corners and cosy areas for babies, toddlers and younger children. It complements rooms decorated in a Scandinavian, neutral or nature-inspired style, as well as children’s bedrooms with woodland, forest animal, autumn, ghost or fairy-tale themes. The little costume story makes the design a playful eye-catcher above a cot, chest of drawers or in a play corner.

Combined with other designs from the Woodland Friends and Ghost series, it creates a cohesive picture-book world on the wall. The scene combines forest animals, nature, imagination, friendship and gentle humour, inviting children to discover the nuts, autumn leaves and tiny details, and to unravel the mystery of the supposed ghost.
