Winter in the Haagsche bos turns the green heart of The Hague into a fairytale forest. Trees are transformed into candyfloss and birds seek warm shelter. Winter time makes the world look different, sometimes more beautiful sometimes sad. Every season has its charms and so does winter time. The otherwise leafy branches turn into white cold stalks cracking in the wind. The Haagsche bos used to be a production forest, trees were planted there for timber production but those days are over. The forest is now more of a natural forest where woodpeckers and other birds have taken up residence. Foxes, deer and hares also find their home in the forest. The Haagsche bos, Marlot estate and Clingendael are great photogenic pieces of nature that attract many a photographer. Together, these three natural monuments form the green heart of The Hague. Attractive for nature lovers and photographers.
