Wine bottle with glasses – wine in black and gold

by AidasignArt

This elegant work from the ‘Moments of Wine’ series combines the sensuality of wine-drinking with a powerful, expressive visual language. On the left-hand side of the picture stand three elegant wine glasses, their shapes modelled in exceptionally thick, impasto-like black paint. They almost blend into the equally black background, and it is precisely this that lends them a mysterious, sculptural presence.

A deep wine-red colour swirls within the glasses. The red wine is depicted as vibrant, spilling slightly over the rims of the glasses and thereby breaking the static tranquillity of the still life. The movement of the wine becomes a symbol of pleasure, passion and the fleeting moment.

To the right of this stands a wine bottle, still half-filled with red wine and sealed with a cork. Its understated presence complements the glasses to form a harmonious composition, whilst also evoking a moment between opening, pouring and savouring.

The deep black, impasto-like background is punctuated in places by layers of gold paint. These subtle golden accents resemble glints of light on a precious surface and lend the work a luxurious, warm touch.

Black, gold and wine red come together to create a still life full of contrasts – dark, elegant, sensual and yet imbued with powerful movement.
