African elephants are very large gray animals with a long trunk, large ears and tusks in both sexes. The large ears are used, among other things, to dissipate heat. The long trunk is mainly used as an aid when eating and drinking. Baby elephants are born very hairy. Adults still have short bristles on the trunk and chin.
