Tarangire National Park is located in the north of Tanzania in the Manyara district. The name of the park is derived from the Tarangire River that runs through the protected area. In the dry season this river is the main lifeline for the wildlife in the area. The entire ecosystem is determined by the long-distance migration of large ungulates such as wildebeest and zebras. During the annual drought period the animals gather here to reproduce.
