About ‘Shipwreck near Katse Veer’ by Sander Poppe

On a quiet morning by the Oosterschelde, I stood in the water at Katse Veer at high tide. That was precisely what made this photograph different. Many photos of this spot are taken at low tide, when the remains of the old ship are fully visible. That morning, I deliberately chose to do the opposite.

The weathered wooden frames barely protrude above the water and seem to be slowly being reclaimed by the Oosterschelde. The long exposure time transformed the water and clouds into soft expanses, naturally drawing all attention to the old shipwreck. The first light of dawn coloured the sky in subtle shades of blue, purple and pink, lending the whole scene a tranquil atmosphere.

What appeals to me about this location is the combination of history and tranquillity. The ship’s remains serve as a reminder of a past that is fading ever further into the distance, whilst the water imperturbably follows its own rhythm.

Thanks to the minimalist composition, the open space and the soft light, this photograph exudes tranquillity. The image fits well in an interior where simplicity, nature and a sense of timelessness take centre stage.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
