About ‘Autumn storm on the Zeeland coast’ by Sander Poppe

Sometimes the weather on the Zeeland coast changes completely within a matter of minutes. During this autumn storm near Westkapelle, a heavy downpour hung over the North Sea, whilst at the same time sunlight was still breaking through the clouds. It was precisely this contrast that made this evening so special.

A huge wave rolled towards the coast from the Groot Hoofd. The water surged powerfully past the wooden structure and the basalt blocks of the dyke. At the same time, broad rays of sunlight appeared alongside the rain shower, unexpectedly illuminating parts of the sea and sky.

What appeals to me about moments like these is their unpredictability. The sky shifted between dark blue, grey and warm orange, whilst the sea seemed to be constantly changing character. It felt as though nature was showing us everything one last time before the storm took complete hold of the landscape.

This photograph captures the dynamism of the Dutch coast. The combination of light, water and movement creates a powerful image, whilst the unobstructed view across the North Sea continues to radiate a sense of space and freedom. As a result, the photograph not only serves as an eye-catcher, but also as a reminder of the enduring power of nature.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
