Werkhoven is a village in the province of Utrecht, region Kromme Rijnstreek. It was a municipality, but was dissolved on 1 September 1964 and added to the municipality of Bunnik. Werkhoven is a small core with about 2,555 inhabitants. The village originated in the 8th century under the name Wercundia. The Sint Stevens church of Werkhoven was built in the 12-13th century. This church forms the centre of the historical core of the village. You will find a lot of cattle breeding and fruit growing in and around the village. At the restored corn mill Rijn en Weert lived a good friend of mine who celebrated her birthday at the time of this picture (2012). I went there by bike from Overberg. From the bike path on the Werkhovenseweg (N229) I had this view on Werkhoven.
