Wellington Harbour Lights – Retro Coastal City Poster

by Travel Shop

This vibrant Wellington illustration captures the unique charm of New Zealand’s capital city through bold colours, stylized shapes, and a strong Art Deco influence. The composition showcases a hillside dotted with colourful homes, each glowing warmly against a dark, evening-blue backdrop. In the foreground, a small boat moves gently across the harbour, its reflection rippling through the water beneath dramatic swirling clouds.

The artwork’s colour palette — deep navy blues, warm oranges, muted reds, and golden creams — creates an inviting balance between cool night tones and glowing warmth. The stylized shapes of the clouds give the sky a sense of movement and personality, echoing Wellington’s famously dynamic weather. The houses scattered across the hillside evoke the city’s cozy neighbourhoods, where lights shimmer like small stars once night descends.

Designed with a strong sense of rhythm and pattern, this piece immediately captures attention while maintaining a calm and friendly atmosphere. It’s perfect for anyone who loves vibrant cityscapes, coastal living, or the distinctive artistic culture that Wellington is known for. The artwork suits a wide variety of spaces — modern living rooms, eclectic studios, creative workspaces, entryways, or even cafés and boutique shops seeking to add a splash of artistic charm.

Its bold shapes and rich colours make it especially striking as a framed print, canvas, or poster. The sense of warmth emanating from the illuminated homes creates a welcoming mood that brings comfort and energy to any interior.
