When the ponds and lakes freeze over in the autumn as winter slips away, peace returns to the forests, meadows and water-rich landscapes. Even the waterfowl retreat to separate open waterholes and reduce their energy requirements to a minimum. We humans also go about our lives more quietly, now characterised by little daylight. We favour our warmed, rainproof houses. Families are moving closer together in many places. Even if this photograph represents a place of cold, it brings warmth to our hearts. Family matters all the more now. That's why I can imagine this picture on a stretcher frame in a cosy room with a fireplace. Try it out and let me know if you like my idea.
