"The Black Point"
Rotterdam South, boy, that's where the action is. For years there was a barren plain there, one of those patches of nothingness where only the wind and a few seagulls ruled. But then again, this is Rotjeknor, isn't it? Before you can blink your eyes, there's suddenly such a thing: Waterside 2. Or as we say: the Black Point.
It's not a dull little building, no, this is a statement. Sleek black, white and a touch of gold, as if to say: look at me shine, old man! And it does. You see it standing like a general overlooking the Brienenoord and the Zalmhuis. In the golden hour, the bridge looks like gold, just like our city. You stop there, even if you're in a hurry - and Rotterdammers are always in a hurry, because they have to clean.
And let's face it, it was about time. That wasteland was no sight anyway. But hey, Waterside 1 finally has a neighbour - and what a neighbour. "Welcome to the neighbourhood, old man! Get you coffee or a glass of beer right away, because that's how we do it here."
This is Rotterdam: first nothing, and then pats-boem, a complex that says U U. Not words, but deeds. Waterside 2, welcome to the skyline!
