At 118 metres, the Hengifoss is one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. It lies on the northwest side halfway the Lagarfljót, a lake up to 112 metres deep with a length of 25 kilometres and a width of 2.5 kilometres near the town of Egilsstaðir.
