The water lily or Nymphaea.
A sunny day; you can almost feel the warmth, but....
This lovely scene is threatened: if you look closely the water lily beetles (Galerucella nymphaeae) are visible on leaves and petals. The larvae of these beetles eat their way through the top of the normally shiny green leaves; it's as if a knife has been used to carve into the leaves. Eventually, this leads to leaf death and misshapen flowers. The natural enemies of these little culprits are the frog and the wagtail.
So carpe diem and enjoy the beauty you see...you never know how long it will last.
