Pieter II Brueghel's Wedding Dance in the Open Air is probably a copy after a lost work by his father Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The composition may also be a compilation of elements from several of his father's wedding dances. Numerous versions of this Wedding Dance in the Open Air exist. In the foreground we see some dancing couples, which can be found almost literally in all versions. There are versions in which the bride dances along. Here she is seated in the back centre in front of a cloth on which a crown is attached. Curious, some wedding guests look at the bowl in front of her on the table to see how much money she will receive as a gift.
