U.S. Air Force F-4E Phantom II.

This photo shows a U.S. Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II in the colours of the 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS) formerly based at Soesterberg airbase.
The Phantoms stationed at Soesterberg wore the tail code CR. This came from the name Camp New Amsterdam, the name the Americans gave to Soesterberg airbase. The orange tip at the top of the tail belongs to the 32nd and indicates its connection with the Royal House of Orange.
This US squadron was stationed at Soesterberg Air Base from 1955 to 1994 during the Cold War.
