This work is painted in the style of Piet Mondrian, who fled to New York during World War II. This allowed him to pursue his work and passion as a painter.
This painting is therefore a tribute to Piet Mondrian and to anyone forced to flee by war or oppression. This is why I chose the Statue of Liberty in New York, which symbolises hope and the right to choose freedom.
The material used was acrylic paint on canvas, which was then scanned.
As an image maker, I wanted to experience painting in the style of Piet Mondrian and working with the three primary colours, which Mondrian often used in his abstract works.
