About ‘Trees in Deadvlei (black-and-white photograph)’ by Adri Vollenhouw
These trees are located in Deadvlei in Namibia. They are approximately 900 to 1,000 years old. They died out 600 to 700 years ago due to drought. The trees have not been petrified or rotted away, but have completely dried out.
Deadvlei is situated in the Sossusvlei region within the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
