The Appalachian finch is the largest of the family of finches found in the Netherlands. A real forest bird. With its robust beak, it is able to crack hard seeds. The bird lives a reclusive life and does not often show itself. This portrait is possible because I took the picture from a hide and the Hawfinch had no idea it was being photographed.
