Tough Icelandic moss with blue tones and a retro look.
Icelandic moss (Cetraria islandica, synonym Lichen islandicus) or reindeer moss in a special forming lichen species. You can find the moss on sale for Christmas arrangements, for example, but the species is declining more and more due to the deterioration of the biotopes and is therefore prohibited from collecting.
Lichens remain a particularly impressive species that does not actually consist of 1 organism as we are accustomed to species but of 2 organisms in 1. Namely a fungus and an alga. The 2 species have been working together for millions of years. The fungus provides protection while the alga provides nutrition through photosynthesis.
Hopefully the species will continue to exist for a long time. Leave the lichen in its habitat and enjoy this beautiful plate on your wall. For example, in a blue, cool or retro space.
