Surely autumn is best for its mushrooms. I found this red Russula in Drenthe. With the light and raindrops falling into the bowl shape, it is as if the mushroom is asking to be used as a cup. A magical image for the true fairy tale lover.
This sculpture looks great with all kinds of styles. Brown, green and red compliment the work and tough materials like wood and metal. Hang it for fall or all year round as a fairy tale in a child's room, for example.
The species of mushroom is a russula (Latin: Russulaceae ) They grow about the same size as the familiar red with white dots fly agaric and come in a variety of colors. Recognizable is that the cap is thicker and many species form a bowl as this one does in the picture. You can often find the first russulas yourself as early as June after a good rain.
