About ‘Three surfer girls with their colourful surfboards’ by Matthias Stolt

Fuerteventura is known as a surfer's paradise. The wave-rich Atlantic Ocean and wide sandy beaches offer surfers and other water sports enthusiasts the perfect holiday destination. This colourful motif was created during a photo shoot for a major tour operator. The three young models were immediately ready to pose for this image idea with the colourful surfboards.

The different coloured bikinis created a magnificent, striking play of colours against the colourful surfboards. The deep horizon and the turquoise colour give the photo a three-dimensional effect. The photo was taken on slide film. A telephoto lens with a fairly open aperture created the blurred background.

Matthias Stolt

Hamburg, Germany

I worked as a freelance photo designer for 25 years. My focus was on fashion and advertising photography. I am also the author of numerous books and articles in trade magazines.
Before becoming self-employed, I worked in marketing for a large camera manufacturer, where I was in charge of public relations.

I discovered my love of photography during my training as a retoucher. This sparked a desire not only to edit photos, but to take them myself.
