I came across this model of a ship at a flea market and had the idea of incorporating it into a hairstyle called "Belle Poule" named after the French frigate that sank an English ship during the American War of Independence and to which Marie Antoinette paid tribute by wearing it in her hairstyle. This young woman, with her black outfit and veil, could be the widow of a French officer killed during the naval battle.
The dramatic lighting highlights the textures of the fabric and the detail of the ship, while the woman's dark, reflective expression reinforces a gothic, melancholy atmosphere.
The contrast between the ship, a symbol of adventure and movement, and the woman's static posture reinforces this narrative tension.
