Walking as a photographer in Landmannalaugar, is like being in a sweet shop. You don't know which way to look first, you don't know what you want to point the camera at. I shot this picture at the start of the walk along the Laugavegur. I ended up not achieving the goal of walking all the way down Laugavegur. You can read more about that later on my site odeaanijsland.nl. Here it was still very promising. The sun was shining, visibility was clear, the air was fresh. My heart rate was 180, my T-shirt drenched in sweat, and the backpack pulled hard on my shoulders.
Fortunately, you find many places along the way where you want to photograph and thus take disguised breaks. It seems like doom and gloom here, but any start to a long hike is accompanied by "getting used to it. The first few kilometres are tough, then it gets better quickly. For me, this photo exudes Landmannalaugar with its rhyolite mountains. The many colours, the grit and the jagged rock formations.
