About ‘The soul of Venice’ by Nordlicht Atelier

This expressive photograph shows an elderly lady in bright white clothing, standing out like a figure of light against a dark Venetian background. The work captures the dignity and lived history that are omnipresent in the streets of this city.

I was inspired by the stark contrast between the transience of the historic walls and the timeless presence of the inhabitants who shape the true face of Venice. By deliberately reducing the colours to black and white, the viewer's eye focuses entirely on the charisma of the person and the graphic rigour of the composition.

An exclusive work that goes far beyond a purely documentary photograph and reflects the emotional depth of my study trip.
