The seven works of mercy (part 6) , Master of Alkmaar, 1504
Save them all 7!
A Dutch city forms the backdrop for a cartoon that shows how a good Christian should help people in need of help. Christ stands between the spectators in almost every scene. The scenes give an impression of urban society around 1500. During the iconoclasm of 1566, in which Roman Catholic churches were destroyed by Protestants, the work was severely damaged.
