A dreamy image from high view and palpably strong. The raw current creates this beautiful wave that is already partially broken, but tirelessly waltzes on from the deep blue. The surface rough and yet so smooth, the water churning while the impact fizzles. The white, the black and then the water, connected yet separate. What mystery they hold hidden beneath the surface. One can only guess.
While traveling in Indonesia, I was inspired by other photographers who created beautiful works from above and especially from the sea, waves, the beautiful white, the mysterious blue.
This attracted me so much that I shifted my entire focus here.
For this shot I used exposure bracketing. Here you shoot 5 photos in quick succession, with different exposures. This keeps the details in both the black and the high light.
For the processing, I chose a heavier contrast. Deep black, slightly milder white and bright blue.
