About ‘The polar bear is in trouble because the ice is melting very quickly.’ by Myrte F. Banen

The polar ice is melting so quickly that the polar bear can no longer find a way out. Because the ice floe has tipped over, the polar bear is trapped and cannot climb down. It will eventually starve to death; this is depicted by rendering the polar bear solely as an outline. The ice floe is depicted in a geometric/stylised manner. This is a recurring feature in many of my modern-blue works. All that remains around the ice floe is water, as the rest of the ice has already melted. In the distance, there is a faint glimmer; this could be from the sun, or there may still be ice there. At the bottom of the ice floe, the water is slightly lighter, as there is more of the ice floe submerged. My inspiration comes from the images on the news. When discussing global warming, they often show a polar bear in solitude on an ice floe. This work gives me a cool feeling. This work is about global warming, starting at the poles. It was created during a good period. There is a lot of emotion in this work: pity because the polar bear will soon starve; astonishment because too little is being done about the climate and global warming is already visibly advanced; fear about how things will progress and what the consequences for people will be; wonder at the depiction of this subject. People concerned about global warming or who have been to the poles, as well as those who love the colour blue and geometric shapes; people who care about animal suffering may find this work particularly moving.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
