About the artwork
The coast, I love going there. The dunes, the beach and the sea, a great place to be, especially if there are not too many people. If it is not too crowded, this is a perfect environment to relax, to enjoy nature in all aspects. A wonderful environment to get totally zen.
What always gives me a special feeling is the first sight of the sea. On the way to the sea, you still have to go through the dunes. Sometimes that is quite a climb. And every time I have climbed a bit up through the dunes, I stop for a moment and look ahead to see if I can already see the sea. And when you have walked far enough up through the dunes and the sea is visible, it always gives me a tremendously happy feeling. A feeling almost impossible to describe. The first sight of that big pool of water, the smells of the sea, the sounds. That feeling is there every time, even though I have seen the sea so many times in my life.
The sea, the beach and the dunes, for me they are all synonymous with freedom, with holiday feeling, with peace, with enjoying, with relaxing. A feeling of coming home, a place where I love to be.
