About "The old lighthouse roof at sunset"

About the artwork

This photo shows a particularly beautiful colour combination: beautiful red metal against a cloudy sky with blue, pink and orange tones!
The red metal you see here is the roof of a lighthouse. The red comes from paint, and due to years of soaking in all the weather conditions, the paint is flaking off. This gives the metal dome a beautifully weathered look.
But where did this metal dome roof with beautiful wind vane come from? From which lighthouse? It is the roof of the lantern of the Westerschouwen lighthouse near Burgh-Haamstede. This lighthouse needed a rotating radar antenna on top, and the 1882 roof could not support the heavy antenna. So the lighthouse was given a new lantern with a stronger roof.
The old lantern was moved to Burghsluis harbour, where it served first as the harbour office and then as a meeting place for the local water sports club.
This roof is a real eye-catcher. The beautiful red colour of the weathered paint inspired me to find the right background. Two home-made photos were used for this: one of a beautiful cloudy sky in blue and white with the moon in first quarter. The second background photo is of a sunset in soft pastel shades.
Together, these three photos create a beautiful and warm atmospheric image.
Fun fact: the 1985 Dutch 250 guilder banknote shows the Westerschouwen lighthouse with this domed roof!

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
