This pier was of great historical importance during the Second World War. During 'Operation Dynamo', more than 300,000 Allied troops were rescued from this pier. This story was later made into a film by Christopher Nolan in Dunkirk. I took this photo on my last day of my photography road trip through Normandy. Actually I had something else in mind, but the bad weather made me choose to photograph this pier at the last minute. Due to the historical background and the ominous environment, I am glad I made this choice.
