Beautiful bird of prey the hawk. This bird sits on a pole in the sunlight looking for prey.
Size: Males grow about 49 cm long with a wingspan of 93 cm, while females are larger and can grow up to 64 cm long with a wingspan of 120 cm.
Appearance: The goshawk has a grey-brown upper surface and a light lower surface with fine dark stripes. Its eyes are yellow to orange, and it has a distinctive white eyebrow stripe above its sharp bill.
Difference from sparrowhawk: The goshawk resembles the smaller sparrowhawk, but is more sturdily built and has broader wings.
Goshawks are agile hunters that strike from ambush.
Their diet consists mainly of medium-sized birds (such as pigeons and crows) and mammals (such as rabbits and squirrels).
They use their powerful claws and lightning-fast attack to grab prey.
