About "The fire temporarily extinguished in the land of fire and ice"

About the artwork

The road winds through the vast, desolate landscape of northern Iceland. The snowflakes swirl down slowly, their light flight in stark contrast to the black, basaltic rock on which they nestle. It seems as if the world has receded into a monochrome canvas, the colours obliterated by the icy stillness of the moment. The mountains, sharp-edged and menacing in their simplicity, show themselves as dark shadows against the blank horizon.

The snow covers everything, but it is not the soft blanket I would expect; it is sharp, like a graphic pattern, highlighting the hard edges of the volcanic landscape. The road beneath my wheels is slippery and treacherous, my concentration fully focused on maintaining grip, controlling the car in this unforgiving environment.

In this moment, the fire of Iceland seems to have disappeared, hidden under the snow, but I know it is still there - not in nature, but in my own passion for photography. The fire of inspiration burns within me as I take my camera out of the bag. Here, in this contrast of black and white, lurks the photographic gem I want to capture, before the moment fades away.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
