About the artwork

The details of a battered bow of a freighter. Drag marks from the anchor chains. The calibration mark on the bow. The faded paint on the lines of the surfaces on the hull. The rawness of the ships moored in the harbour.

Walking through Amsterdam's harbour. The ships moored at the quays and jetties. Waiting for a cargo to load. The next cargo to unload. Sailing across the sea in storm wind rain ice and sweltering heat. The ship is always on the move. If it is moored at the quay or a jetty, I take pictures of the ship: raw and the port as it is, the people who work there. I like to photograph the images I see there because it is art in itself. The harbour is another world. The landscape of the port is always changing. The ships the people the landscape it never ceases to fascinate me. Ship Viewer_Port photography raw and honest as the port itself. Port pictures on the wall of the living room office or study.
