Michael Ladenthin, born in 1963, is a German artist who grew up and lives and works in the Ruhr region.
His artworks are characterised by a mixture of expressionist and realistic elements based on abstract processes. Ladenthin experiments with the primary colours yellow, cyan and magenta, combined with white and black to create random structures. These structures tell stories, illustrate scenes or visualise dreams and psychotic states. Parts of his paintings remain untreated to give the viewer space to discover their own elements in the abstract forms and to add individual scenes.
The painting "Die Entscheidungen sind gefallen" has an original size of 60 x 60 cm and is a mixed technique (oil on acrylic). It shows blank pieces of paper or post-its falling on fertile ground, symbolising decisions that have been made.
This painting is based on the primary colours yellow, magenta and cyan and, like many of Ladenthin's works, integrates watercolour features and large areas of colour. The combination of abstract and realistic elements invites the viewer to find their own interpretations and meanings.
The images belong primarily to the cycle CMY, which, based on the technique of modern printing technology, consists essentially of the colors cyan, magenta and yellow. The colors are used in the priming for image composition and later elaborated in the details.
