About ‘The bay of Sitia’ by Detlef Georgi

On one of my road trips to the mountains of Crete, I had to capture this view of the eastern part of the bay of Sitia in a photo. My GPS had told me that I was already over 300 metres above sea level. The temperature was much more pleasant than down there on the beach. The view over the olive plantations is simply marvellous.

Later, when I started painting, I realised that I chose almost the same motifs when painting as I did with my first camera.
