The Italian stunt pilot Luca Bertossio and his glider. A glider flies in the same way as an airplane, but usually does not use an (auxiliary) engine. As a result, the flight normally takes place in a descending line in which the aircraft loses 0.5 to 1 metre per second in altitude with respect to the surrounding air. By gaining altitude in ascending winds, the aircraft can stay in the air longer and cover a greater distance.
