High above the Tolmin Gorge in Slovenia stands a bridge. Standing on the bridge, you look out at the river flowing dozens of metres below you. You can see the jagged shapes of the rocks, you can see the deep blue of the river and the green of the mosses and ferns on the rocks.
Even in winter, when this photo was taken, Tolmin's colours are strikingly bright. You get the feeling that this photo might as well have been taken in summer.
Slovenia is a country with huge differences. The Julian Alps in the north, rolling vineyards in the east, the short coast in the west. You can see almost all the landscapes of Europe in Slovenia. However, it is a very small country.
Those huge differences make for beautiful little corners like the Tolmin Gorge. A must-see for anyone visiting Slovenia.
