'The Power of Diversity': a modern painting made from colourful pebbles by Dirk van der Ven

Bring a vibrant dynamism into your home, where each unique piece displays its own colour and enhances the whole.

This piece pulsates with a powerful, palpable energy. The composition captures the beauty of diversity, in which thousands of individual, angular pieces come together to form a harmonious whole. There is a constant movement in the pattern, in which no two shapes are identical. This serves as a poetic reminder that everyone contributes their own small part to the greater whole, creating an undeniable collective strength.

The use of colour is intense and deeply layered. A powerful dark blue forms the foundation for the striking accents of sun-yellow, ochre, warm orange, terracotta, purple and fresh green. This interplay of colours reacts subtly to the changing light within the home. As daylight shifts or the seasons change, different areas of colour are highlighted, allowing you to discover new colour tones time and again.

In the composition of this work, a clean, structured base has been combined with looser brushstrokes. The thick outlines around the areas of colour and the tactile, fine-grained texture give the piece an artisanal and tangible feel. This expressive piece makes a powerful addition to a modern or minimalist interior, where it fills the space with character without disrupting the sense of calm.
