Lake Leekster is a reasonable place to try star photography. It's relatively dark there. Unfortunately, the surrounding places are certainly not. Leek, Roden and Groningen cause a lot of light pollution. Light pollution ensures that we can see fewer stars when it is a nice clear night. To prevent light pollution we would all leave a few less lights on at night.
